Intl climbers explore Guanshanhu beyond competition

International athletes competing in the World Climbing Series Guiyang 2026 stepped beyond the competition arena on Sept 12 and 14 to explore Guiyang's Guanshanhu district, experiencing its urban culture, traditional crafts, and natural scenery.

Athletes from Switzerland and the United States visited the AYDC Public Art Center on Sept 12, where they explored distinctive shops and sampled Guizhou specialty coffee and local food.

On Sept 14, athletes from Mexico, Spain, and Switzerland visited the Shoushang Jiyi Museum in Wengong village. They viewed Miao embroidery, batik, traditional farm tools, and other artifacts while learning about local craftsmanship and folk culture.

The athletes also toured Baihua Lake Scenic Area by boat, taking in its clear waters, green shores, and surrounding mountains. They later tried making traditional handicrafts and enjoyed coffee by the lake.

The cultural experience gave the international athletes an opportunity to discover Guanshanhu beyond the climbing wall, offering a closer look at Guiyang's cultural heritage, natural scenery, and everyday life.
