Guizhou Fashion Week brought fashion outdoors on Aug 25, hosting its "Terraces" show among the lush rice terraces of Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province.

Amid gentle rain and mist, models walked along the terraced fields in contemporary designs inspired by Guizhou's intangible cultural heritage (ICH), creating a striking blend of fashion, tradition, and nature.

Three ICH-inspired brands — Li Changde, Songjing, and Tuoji — presented collections incorporating traditional craftsmanship and ethnic cultural elements.

Li Changde unveiled 30 designs inspired by the cultures of Miao, Yi, and Gelao ethnic groups, while Tuoji showcased 25 pieces drawing on Sui ethnic culture. Songjing presented 16 designs that combined traditional Guizhou "shiny textile" techniques with modern Western tailoring.

Instead of a conventional runway, the show used the terraces, mountains, villages, and misty landscapes as its natural backdrop. Lusheng music and Bouyei folk songs added a distinctive cultural touch, highlighting Guizhou's living ethnic heritage.

By bringing traditional craftsmanship into contemporary fashion and placing the runway at the heart of the landscape, the event offered a fresh interpretation of Guizhou's cultural heritage and its connection with modern design.
