The 5th Guanshanhu Ecological Season kicked off on June 27 in Guiyang's Guanshanhu district, featuring 26 activities running through September to create a summer that pays tribute to the scientific study of the environment.
This year's events focus on three core themes: ecological science education, ecological experiences, and inter-regional cooperation.
A highlight is the launch of a biodiversity monitoring program, with five grey herons in Guanshanhu Park named and equipped with tracking devices, allowing visitors to follow their flight paths online.
The organizers of this program have also released the district's latest biodiversity survey results and introduced a nature education guidebook.
The event also showcases cooperation with national research institutions, displaying more than 40 rare wild animal species and nearly 20 endangered plant species from southern China.
Meanwhile, the "Chunyan" rainforest science education site offers residents even more opportunities to explore protected plants and biodiversity.
