Guanshanhu boosts livability and growth through urban renewal

Guiyang's Guanshanhu district is enhancing both quality of life and economic vitality through targeted urban renewal and industrial development.

A notable example of such efforts is Ayunduocang, a former underground parking facility that has been transformed into a cultural and leisure hub. Now featuring cafes, skate parks, and art spaces, the site has become a popular destination for young people.

Blending local ethnic culture with modern design, it hosts over 100 small businesses and creative brands, turning once underused space into a thriving social and commercial center.

The project reflects the district's broader approach of "micro-renovation and refined upgrading", focusing on revitalizing existing urban spaces rather than large-scale demolition. The transformation has helped boost consumption and inject new energy into the local economy.

In parallel, Guanshanhu has improved public services by building "15-minute living circles", enabling residents to access daily necessities such as supermarkets, healthcare, and public transport within a short walk.

Industrial development has also played a key role. The district is home to a growing new energy vehicle sector, with annual output exceeding 250,000 units, driving economic growth and job creation.

Emerging industries, such as the digital economy and low-altitude economy, are further supporting sustainable urban development.

With an urbanization rate now exceeding 86 percent, Guanshanhu is positioning itself as a modern, livable, and business-friendly urban center, combining improved public services with dynamic economic growth.
