Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has demonstrated robust momentum during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), advancing its vision of building a district of industry, livability, vitality, and happiness.

In recent years, the district has repeatedly ranked among China's top 100 districts for overall competitiveness, investment potential, scientific and technological innovation, and tourism strength in western China.

By the end of 2025, Guanshanhu's GDP is expected to reach 90 billion yuan ($12.86 billion), with an average annual growth rate of 5.3 percent.

Its region's automobile-led industrial sector has seen a major leap forward: total industrial output above designated size is projected to exceed 38 billion yuan — triple the amount at the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20). The automobile industry now accounts for over 80 percent of the province's total industrial output, with "Guanshanhu-made vehicles" being exported overseas.

Relying on Guizhou's first modern service industry pilot zone, the district has attracted more than two-thirds of the province's financial institutions — including banks, insurers, securities firms, and funds — bringing the total to over 600.

Guanshanhu also hosts three major international events: the China International Big Data Industry Expo, the China (Guizhou) International Alcoholic Beverages Expo, and the Eco Forum Global Guiyang. Each year, the district holds over 1,200 exhibitions and conferences, generating a combined economic impact of 30 billion yuan.

Technology continues to drive growth in Guanshanhu, with tech firms contributing over 60 percent of Guiyang's total tech revenue. Emerging industries — such as artificial intelligence, digital audiovisuals, and intelligent driving — are expanding rapidly. The district's deep integration of big data and the real economy has ranked first in the province for five consecutive years.
