The First Tour of the Guizhou Park Province Road Cycling Race will kick off on Oct 18 in Guiyang's Guanshanhu district, marking a new milestone in Guizhou's efforts to become a world-class mountain sports destination.
The event will run from Oct 18 to 23, covering seven cities and prefectures across Southwest China's Guizhou province. The opening stage, from Guanshanhu district in Guiyang to the Huangguoshu Waterfall in Anshun, spans 154 kilometers – taking cyclists from a modern cityscape to one of China's most famous natural wonders.
"Guanshanhu District, as the starting point of Stage 1, will present a beautiful urban image, deliver an immersive racing experience, and provide thoughtful and warm services to participants," said Zhu Mingjian, deputy head of Guanshanhu district.
Ahead of the race, a pre-event carnival and "Tour of Guizhou Night" welcome ceremony will be held on Oct 16–17 in Guanshanhu. The festivities will feature meet-and-greets with star cyclists, BMX stunt shows, dance performances, and a professional team presentation, blending sports, culture, and consumer experiences.
The full race includes five stages covering over 760 km and features Guizhou's rich geography, stunning landscapes, and cultural heritage. A total of 29 elite teams from more than 10 countries and regions – including 12 continental teams – have registered to compete for prizes totaling 1 million yuan ($140,449).
