Baihua Lake homestays boost Guanshanhu rural economy

This summer, Baihua Lake town in Guanshanhu district saw a surge in visitors to its lakeside homestays, drawn by cool weather and pristine natural surroundings. The boom not only allows guests to enjoy the scenic beauty but also creates new income opportunities for locals.

Located along Baihua Lake, the town offers breathtaking views of islands, water, and mountains, making it a prime location for tourism development. Utilizing this natural asset, the town offers both lodging and dining services, helping villagers expand their income streams and strengthen rural vitalization.

Currently, the town operates 38 homestays across Shicao, Sanbao, Zhulin, and Santun villages, generating approximately 1.8 million yuan (251.05 million) in revenue. Local agritourism income reached around 2 million yuan, providing employment for over 400 people.

Looking ahead, the town plans to incorporate provincial intangible cultural heritage items like the Pingbao Flower Lantern and Bouyei folk culture into tourism activities. "We aim to attract more visitors through diverse events that blend culture and tourism," said Chang Mingjing, head of the public affairs office of Baihua Lake town.
