Located in the northwestern part of Guiyang, Guizhou province, Guanshanhu district covers a total area of 307 square kilometers with a built-up area of 64.5 square kilometers and an urbanization rate of 85.4 percent. Established as an administrative district in 2012, it has rapidly developed into Guiyang's political, economic, financial, cultural and transportation hub. The district has many significant provincial and municipal facilities, including Guizhou Financial City and the Guiyang International Convention and Exhibition Center.
As a key venue for major national events such as the Eco Forum Global Annual Conference and China International Big Data Industry Expo, Guanshanhu serves as an important window for Guizhou's international exchanges. The district boasts three beautiful lakes – Guanshan, Baihua and Yueshan – and was honored as a national ecological demonstration zone in 2017 for its environmental achievements.
Guanshanhu is currently leading Guizhou's development as the first modern service industry pilot zone in the province's inland open economy. Focusing on high-end consumption and advanced manufacturing, it aims to become a regional hub for trade, finance and innovation. In 2024, the district achieved a GDP of 84.69 billion yuan ($11.56 billion) with 5.3 percent growth, maintaining its position as one of Guizhou's most dynamic and prosperous urban areas.
