On June 21, the 2025 "Eco Season" series kicked off in Guanshanhu district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province. Running through September, the event features three themed sections: “Ecology + Education", "Ecology + Music" and "Eco Twin Cities".
The "Ecology + Education" segment includes 12 interactive lessons and volunteer programs, while the "Ecology + Music" segment centers around an art competition where selected works and performers may be invited to join exhibitions and tours. The "Eco Twin Cities" initiative promotes cross-regional collaboration with districts like Tianhe in Guangzhou and Futian in Shenzhen, featuring joint exhibitions, cultural exchanges, and ecological learning to explore new models of shared ecological progress.
During the opening ceremony, Guanshanhu released its 2024 Ecological Environment Quality Report and the 2023 Gross Ecosystem Product (GEP) report. The Guanshanhu Ecological Civilization Volunteer Service Team was also officially launched, with the first group of volunteers making a public ecological pledge. An online sign-up platform was also introduced, marking the start of a new citizen engagement mechanism for ecological protection.
The first "Enjoy Shanhu" Public Eco Art Competition was also launched, featuring contests in piano performance, bird photography, and recycled art, aiming to inspire public environmental awareness and creativity through the fusion of art and nature.
A highlight of the event was the "Eco Twin Cities" partnership. Guanshanhu's ecological environment bureau signed a cooperation agreement with Futian and the Neilingding Futian National Nature Reserve, deepening cross-regional collaboration.
The day also marked the official opening of Phase II of the Guanshanhu Ecological Civilization Exhibition Hall.
