Guiyang city's Guanshanhu district has been recognized as one of China's top 100 urban districts for tourism in 2025, according to the 2025 National Urban District Tourism Report released at the World Brand Moganshan Conference.
The report reveals that in 2024, tourism consumption across China's 977 urban districts reached 4.84 trillion yuan ($663 billion), with projections surpassing 5 trillion yuan in 2025. Sixteen districts – including Siming in Xiamen, Qinhuai in Nanjing, and Yuzhong in Chongqing – recorded total tourism revenues exceeding 50 billion yuan.
The report also emphasizes the strategic importance of urban districts, which occupy only 6 percent of China's land area yet support over 40 percent of the population and generate more than 60 percent of the nation's tourism consumption.
In 2024, tourism revenue contributed an average of over 8 percent to local GDPs, with this figure rising above 12 percent in eastern regions.
