From April 20 to 23, Guanshanhu district marked the 2025 World Book and Copyright Day with a series of vibrant cultural and literary activities, aimed at fostering a deeper reading culture across local communities.
A highlight of the festivities was the unveiling of the Luming Book House, located in Guanshanhu Park.
Now officially a branch of the Guanshanhu District Library, the book house boasts a collection of over 5,000 volumes. Designed as a multifaceted cultural space, it focuses on knowledge sharing, ecological education, leisure experiences, and community engagement.
As the main venue for the World Book and Copyright Day celebration, the Luming Book House hosted a variety of events, including ecological reading salons, book recommendation check-ins, themed book exhibitions, and secondhand book exchanges. These activities brought readers of all ages together in a shared celebration of literature and learning.
To further promote the theme of "Books to the Grassroots", organizers introduced a creative "Love Reading, Come to Guanshanhu" challenge.
Participants who complete five themed check-ins – spanning parks, schools, shopping malls, museums, and libraries – can earn customized reading gift packs. This initiative not only encourages exploration of local cultural venues but also raises awareness of the library's outreach and public services.
Complementing the in-person festivities, the event also adopted a hybrid format with online extensions. The "Yue Growth · Reading Ambassador" campaign invited residents to recommend books and record reading segments. On-site registration booths encouraged participation, and selected submissions will be featured on the district library's official social media platform.
