Hiking event spurs tourism in Gaozhai village

On Jan 11, Gaozhai village, Guanshanhu district, Guiyang, welcomed 481 hikers from across China for the "Heli Countryside · Hiking Guizhou" event.

The 7.75-kilometer route featured eight scenic checkpoints, including Xiaolanshan Digital Cultural Industry Village, Shenque Tea Plantation, and Eco Strawberry Farm, blending natural landscapes with local agriculture and specialty products. Participants earned points through quizzes and checkpoint activities, redeemable for rewards via the "Heli Countryside" mini-program.

Hikers enjoyed fresh air, picturesque views, and local customs. The first finisher, Xiao Shilong, praised the route for its combination of mountains, water, and farmland, noting the warmth and friendliness of villagers.

Organizers said the event links public fitness with rural development, offering a fun, healthy, and community-focused way to boost Gaozhai village's profile, attract visitors, and support sustainable tourism.
