To address growing parking challenges, Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has launched a paid, time-shared parking program by integrating underutilized parking spots. Residents can now easily reserve parking via a mobile app, significantly improving convenience.

For example, Mr Li, a resident, shared how booking a shared parking space near Century City made his trip to the community health center hassle-free. Meanwhile, parking owners like Ms Long rent out their unused spaces, earning extra income – she has made over 1,000 yuan ($139) this year.

The district has developed a dynamic management platform that tracks parking availability, prices, and usage hours, enabling seamless online booking, contract management, and payment processing. Currently, 2,281 shared spaces are available, with nearly 100,000 bookings made and over 330,000 hours of shared use logged. Parking owners have collectively earned more than 520,000 yuan.
Officials say they will continue to expand resources and improve management to alleviate parking woes and create a more convenient travel environment for all residents.
