Gaozhai village: A rising summer retreat

Gaozhai village in Guanshanhu district, Guiyang, has transformed into a popular summer destination by utilizing the natural beauty of Baihua Lake and enhancing its livability through thoughtful renovations.

The village now hosts 16 homestays, offering 126 rooms and 180 beds. During the summer season alone, it welcomed over 1,200 visitors and generated more than 1 million yuan ($13.89 million) in revenue.

Gaozhai offers a picturesque blend of lakeside scenery, fragrant mountaintop tea gardens, and rustic charm. With over 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares) of white tea plantations, a strawberry farm, and a tea noodle processing plant, it offers a peaceful escape into nature. Thanks to comprehensive rural vitalization efforts, the village has undergone a dramatic transformation, now boasting beautiful landscapes, thriving industries, and improved living standards.

Recognized as a Guiyang model site for "lakeside living" and a key rural tourism village in Guizhou, Gaozhai continues to advance the integration of agriculture and tourism, injecting new energy into the local economy and rural development.
