Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was among the areas selected carry out the second batch of national rural digital pilot projects, as announced by the Cyberspace Administration of China on June 17.

The pilot project in Guanshanhu will focus on rural digital culture and centers around the Guizhou Ethnic Culture Park, encompassing the villages of Gaozhai, Shicao, Wenggong, Cangpo, Shangjian, and Santun. The aim is to create a vibrant and authentic digital ethnic culture park set amidst picturesque lakes and mountains.

At the core of the project are digital cultural exhibitions, creative industries, and digital cultural tourism, leveraging new technologies such as 5G, Internet of Things, big data, and artificial intelligence, to revitalize rural and traditional cultures with digital innovations.

By the end of 2023, Guanshanhu had established 3,314 5G base stations, achieving full 5G network coverage in the main urban area and full accessibility in administrative villages, highlighting its strength in rural digital development.

Looking ahead to 2025, significant progress is expected to be made in rural digital development, particularly with the establishment of a range of successful rural e-commerce product brands linked to the Guizhou Ethnic Culture Park.

This will form the foundation for a comprehensive digital rural industry service system covering smart agriculture, rural e-commerce, and intelligent tourism. These efforts aim to drive the prosperity of rural network culture, enhance rural governance, elevate digital rural culture, and diversify rural economies.
