Guanshanhu boosts integrated development of music, tourism

The integration of music festivals with tourism has proven to be a successful strategy for Guanshanhu district in Southwest China's Guizhou province, as it continues to attract a significant number of participants and boost the local economy.

Since the beginning of this year, Guanshanhu has successfully merged non-profit performances with commercial shows, effectively promoting the recovery and development of the performing arts industry.

So far, 21 commercial performances and over 350 music bar residencies have been conducted, attracting nearly 90,000 participants.

Moreover, spaces have been provided for bands, performers, and music enthusiasts to showcase their talents in various locations throughout the district, including on streets, by the sides of lakes, on public squares, and in flower fields.

This initiative aims to spread the love of music throughout the city. In the first half of this year, a total of 27 events were planned, attracting nearly 30,000 people to join in.

Among the highlights was a music festival held in Guanshanhu Park on July 22-23, which drew over 90,000 residents and tourists.

Over the course of two days, the festival featured performances by 32 domestic and international singers and bands, including Pu Shu, Zhao Lei, Xu Song, Chen Chusheng, and 24KGOLDN.

The audience enjoyed live performances of various music genres such as pop, rap, folk, and rock.

Wu Lin, the general manager of Guizhou Yachen Tianyi Culture and Media Co, the organizer of the festival, said daily ticket sales ran to about 35,000, with the proportion of tickets purchased in the province accounting for about 50 percent.

"The number of visitors from outside Guizhou has grown exponentially compared to last year." Wu added.
