Guanshanhu rides tourism rebound in Spring Festival holiday

The Guanshanhu district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received a whopping 204,962 visits during the Spring Festival holiday on Jan 21-27 – a year-on-year surge of 43.95 percent.

That generated total tourism revenue of 123.7 million yuan ($17.99 million), according to the district's bureau of culture, sports, radio, television and tourism.

During the break, a Spring Festival folk garden party at Wengjing village – administered by Jinhua town, in the district – attracted flocks of locals and tourists. They got to see rows of red lanterns and experience some great activities including the handicrafts of the Miao ethnic group, dragon dances, riddles and trying their hand at making ciba – a glutinous rice cake.

Located at the intersection of Changling South Road and Qianlingshan Road, the Jianghua International Tourism Center also heaved with visitors. They enjoyed the upbeat New Year's atmosphere and had a ball admiring splendid scenery, appreciating folk customs, watching performances and tasting food.

What's more, the Baihuahu Scenic Spot in the district was decorated with red lanterns and lights, creating a jaunty and festive mood,

The district's library also launched a series of activities including a lottery and a cultural exhibition for the Year of the Rabbit.
