Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently launched a series of activities to celebrate its 20th anniversary, according to local officials.

Guanshanhu district is a new urban area that started construction in 2000 and was approved by the State Council in 2012. It has made great progress in infrastructure construction, administrative management, social governance and economic development since its foundation.

In 2019, the GDP of Guanshanhu reached 60.7 billion yuan ($8.65 billion), ranking among the top five districts (cities and counties) in the province. For four consecutive years, from 2016 to 2019, it was named as one of “China's Top 100 Small and Medium-sized Districts with the Most Investment Potential”.

In order to review the past and look to a better future, the district will hold a series of activities from now until October to showcase its achievements. The 20-plus activities - including a calligraphy exhibition, painting and photography works, a selection of the most influential people, an activity for cultural and tourism consumption as well as a trade fair themed around poverty alleviation - will showcase the economic and social development of the district.

Officials said that residents can get related information about the activities through media platforms such as the district's WeChat account and mobile application.
