Enterprises, colleges act to boost graduate employment

Updated: 2020-03-27

Companies and colleges in the Guanshanhu district of Guiyang city are stepping up their employment recruitment efforts for graduates, to shelter them from the negative economic impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic, according to local officials.

Southwest China's Guizhou province reportedly issued 10 measures on March 13 to help college graduates find jobs or start businesses.

According to the fifth measure, the province will give social insurance subsidies and financial supports to encourage enterprise to absorb more graduates.

"Our company cooperated with various colleges and universities in the province to build logistics training bases last year, helping students get more practice opportunities and strengthening their professional ability," said Fan Yue, head of the human resources department of Guizhou Shunfeng Express Co Ltd.

According to Fan, 40-50 graduates from the cooperative schools can get jobs in the company every year. This year, the company will deepen its cooperation with colleges and universities to absorb more graduates.

"In order to help graduates finds jobs and start businesses, our college put more emphasis on job recruitment fairs both online and offline," said Sun Yi, director of the recruitment and employment department of Guiyang Vocational and Technical College.

The college planned an online job recruitment fair with Guizhou talent market, which kick started on March 1 and runs to April 15.

It also shared information on more than 2 million jobs through the campus recruitment service platform of the Ministry of Education, to broaden the employment channels outside the province for graduates.

Sun said that in the first half of 2020, the college would cooperate with teaching units to organize eight online recruitment fairs to further promote the employment of graduates.
