Panpan Foods Group builds new plant in Guanshanhu

 A major production and processing plant for Guizhou Panpan Foods Co Ltd – a unit of the giant Panpan Foods Group – broke ground on July 20 in the Guanshanhu district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, according to local officials.

With a total investment of nearly 2 billion yuan ($285.5 million), the plant will cover 260,000 square meters and produce 300,000 tons of food and drink products annually, providing jobs for 1,500 staff members.

Officials said the plant will boast a modern and intensive processing center for agricultural products featuring a production workshop, a product testing and R&D center, as well as related support facilities.

They said the plant will mainly produce a wide variety of leisure food and energy drinks.

Chen Yan, deputy secretary of the CPC Guiyang Committee and mayor of Guiyang, told guests at the groundbreaking ceremony that in recent years his city had adhered closely to a development vision "focusing on products, varieties, categories and brands, building a powerful industrial chain and promoting prosperity of over 100 industries".

Guiyang had consistently followed a path of becoming  building a prosperous city by expanding its opening up, revitalizing the real economy and attracting top talent.

"As a leading enterprise in China's food industry, Panpan Foods Group's project is of great significance for Guiyang to promote the high-end, market-oriented and intensive development of the agricultural industry," he said.

Chen urged the city and company to strengthen communications to accelerate the construction of the project. “We will try our best to provide services for the project's construction and operation,” he added.

Cai Jin'an, chairman of Panpan Foods Group, expressed his gratitude for the support of Guizhou and Guiyang. He said his group would spare no effort in building the plant, so as to help with local poverty alleviation and economic and social development.
